“Telšių shukų namai” received a report that a bloody dog was lying near one of the houses in the village of Upyna, they did not expect to see what they saw.

“We can see with the naked eye that it is a tumor that has not been treated. And the animal is left to suffer. No veterinarian treated him, the animal lived by itself, licking its paws, on which blood was constantly dripping from its head,” the post reads.

Shocked by this image, the volunteers called the police, and later the owner herself returned, who immediately admitted her negligence.

However, it seems that in this case, the acknowledgment of the hostess’s negligence will not be enough. According to the shelter, this case will not be left as it is and will seek justice for the woman who did not take care of the animal and thus caused it suffering.

“We understand, it will not be possible to save that dog. This is overdue in every way. We brought the dog back to us, we are trying to call any vet to end his suffering.

We filled out what was needed for the police, we will contact the VMVT. We will try to ensure that all “repentants” are punished for animal suffering!

Although the owner appears to be a normal woman, no normal person would watch a living creature gasping for air while strapped to a leash! And no amount of excuses will change our minds,” the shelter says.

Later it turned out that the woman accused of torturing the dog works in the Upyna district.

“You know, enough to cover the parasites. It is enough to be afraid that we will be reprimanded, it is enough to be afraid to go to the police to explain that we are defiling the dignity of parasites. After the weekend, we all live in a nightmare, a shock. Volunteers wake up at night. The volunteer who took the dog to Šiauliai couldn’t see the way back through her tears. And what did the owner Laima do? He put the dog in our car, asked if everything was fine and went back to work in the Upyna district. Yes yes, the lady works in the ward, works with benefits, poses with the elder in the photo,” the Facebook post reads.

Roberta Šliogerytė, a volunteer of “Telšiau shukės namai” for the portal lrytas.lt revealed that even after the animal’s euthanasia, the owner showed no interest in what fate awaited her pet’s body, so it was left at the Šiauliai Veterinary Center for disposal.

Tomas Katkus, the mayor of the municipality of Telšiai district, also reacted to this event, who emphasized that cruel treatment of animals or their neglect will not be tolerated. The mayor also revealed that the woman mentioned in the shelter submitted a request to leave her job due to the situation.

“First of all, I want to emphasize that cruelty to animals or their neglect cannot be tolerated. Each of us is directly responsible for the well-being of our pets and we take responsibility for them.

I learned about the situation in Upyna district yesterday evening. This morning, I talked about it with the head of the Social Support and Care Department of the Telšiai District Municipality Administration (a person working in Upyna is directly subordinate to this department). The manager described the above-mentioned employee as a competent specialist, we have not received any complaints about the performance of her work functions.

Understanding the situation, an employee working in the Upyna district submitted a request to quit her job this morning.

Thank you to those who called the services of the persons who provide assistance to the animals. Only the indifference of all of us can help avoid such situations,” the mayor wrote.

As a portal lrytas.lt reported Artūras Šliavas, Head of the Communication Sub-Department of the Chief Police Commissariat of Šiauliai County, after collecting the primary material, the police officers handed it over to the State Food and Veterinary Service for further investigation and decision-making, according to their competence.
