“Participating in exercises is one of the best ways for organizations to test their ability to manage cyber attacks of varying intensity independently and in cooperation with other institutions,” NKSC director Liudas Ališauskas said in a statement, adding that organizing exercises not only strengthens the cyber security of individual organizations, but also the entire country. resilience.

As the Ministry of National Defense (KAM) announced on Wednesday, the first international cyber defense exercise “Suremti Skydai 2024” will take place in mid-April. They are organized by the NATO Joint Cyber ​​Defense Competence Center. Lithuania will participate in the exercise by forming a joint team with cyber security specialists of the Dutch army.

“Joint participation in the exercise will allow specialists from both countries not only to exchange experience, but also to further increase interoperability and the ability to act in the event of major crises,” said Deputy Minister of National Defense Greta Monika Tučkutė.

In June, the NKSC team will coordinate the participation of Lithuanian institutions in the European Union (EU) cyber security exercise Cyber ​​Europe 2024, which will be aimed at testing the energy sector’s ability to manage large-scale and cross-border cyber crises.

According to the ministry, in order to strengthen the competences of the country’s critical service providers, NKSC will organize five national cyber security exercises this year.

Four organized exercises “Cyber ​​Shield PhishEx” will allow to develop and test the resistance of employees to the messages of online fraudsters based on the principles of social engineering.

Also, during the largest national cyber security exercise “Cybernetis shield OpEx” to be held in October, the internal cyber incident management procedures of organizations managing state information resources of special importance and state will be checked, according to the statement of the Ministry of Interior.
