Marijampolė, J. Jablonskio st. 2A, the social workshop “Pastelė namai” opened its doors, where people with mental or intellectual disabilities will choose to engage in new creative activities.
Marijampolė municipality is opening more and more opportunities for people with disabilities. Two brand new group living homes have recently opened, and another sheltered home, the eleventh, has opened its doors, where a working-age couple with a disability will begin independent living. It is very important for such people to integrate into society, they want not only to communicate with neighbors, attend events, but also to work and earn money.
Therefore, the second social workshop “Pastelės namai”, which opened its doors in Marijampolė on Thursday, will help people with mental or intellectual disabilities integrate into society, form new skills and engage in their favorite creative activities.
Up to 16 people will be able to attend social workshops, who will develop creative and artistic abilities with the help of two social workers.
– The expected activity of the workshop is production and publishing of various electronic and printed publications (leaflets, flyers, posters, task and coloring books, books, etc.), production of various advertising products: business cards, T-shirts, souvenirs, embroidered products.
Visitors will not only acquire practical skills, but will also learn to express themselves creatively, form graphic expression and properly present information, look for new ideas, and in the future it is expected that they will be able to apply the acquired skills while working in various business enterprises, – says Artūras, the vice mayor of Marijampolė municipality, presenting the second social workshop Visockis, who together shared plans for the opening of the third social workshop.
