It is announced that representatives of science and business are invited to submit applications for the projects of the creation of an autonomous anti-tank/anti-personnel mine detection and identification platform based on artificial intelligence, as well as the projects of the initial speed meter of the minesweeper mine.

“Projects supported by our program are a great opportunity for representatives of Lithuanian science and business to get involved in the creation and development of important defense technologies. This year’s topics are particularly relevant in view of the identified lessons of the Ukrainian war, as well as important for the Ukrainian demining coalition organized and led by Lithuania,” says Deputy Minister of National Defense Greta Monika Tučkutė.

The projects will be implemented in two phases: the first will call for concept submissions and the second phase will involve the development of prototypes.

The Ministry of Defense allocates the largest possible funding to the projects of creating an autonomous anti-tank/anti-personnel mine detection and identification platform based on artificial intelligence, which amounts to up to 300,000. euros. For the projects of the initial velocity meter of mortar mines, it is planned – up to 60 thousand. euros.

The results of the projects are expected in 2025.

The Defense Technology Development Program in Lithuania is approved and financed by the Ministry of National Defense and is implemented in 2021-2027.

Its purpose is to strengthen national defense capabilities and accelerate the development of the Lithuanian defense industry. The funds of the program support the projects of companies and research and study institutions aimed at the creation and development of defense technologies and co-finance their participation in European Defense Fund projects.
