If you tried to deny this by saying that the car does not listen to the driver, you would fail to prove this statement, because modern vehicles are so smart with their equipment and various apps that they not only listen to the person behind the wheel, but even feel him. By recording its every movement, it even helps to react, warn, reduce threats or even avoid an emergency situation on the road.

Since driver-car communication has evolved in parallel with the advancing technical capabilities of vehicles and scientific innovations, it is worth going back in time.

The main possibility to communicate with other road users, which has remained until now since the beginning of the development of the car, is the sound signal. Two groups of car lights also help the communication of road users in accordance with the etiquette not regulated in the Road Traffic Rules (emergency signal function is performed by high/low beam or turning lights; in specific cases, braking, reversing, fog lights). The more the car’s technical characteristics improved, the more the driver’s limited capabilities disappeared, the driver’s communication improved not only with the surrounding people participating in the traffic, but also with the car itself.

Cars that can be adapted to different situations at the click of a button have long ceased to be the figments of a fleeting fantasy. When electronics took over control of the engine, gearbox, suspension, steering mechanism and braking system, it became possible to create easily switchable driving modes. The same model can now be economical on long journeys or sporty when overtaking. Even without the all-wheel drive system, it is easier to overcome snow or mud.

Why do ordinary cars have different driving modes, and do they really work – most new technologies debut in the most luxurious models. Only then, when it becomes cheaper and easier to install them, do they “move” to smaller cars as well. Although until now the most optional driving modes are implemented in sports models and SUVs, the settings of driving options are already becoming a novelty and an advantage of smaller cars as well.

The character of the car, as Matas Buzelis, head of communication at carVertical, explains, has changed without the cable connecting the accelerator pedal to the engine. The electronic interface that replaced it made it possible for different engine operating modes to appear, so now each driver chooses them according to different needs. According to M. Buzelis, in different models it is possible to change not only the sensitivity of the accelerator, but also the options of the power steering or electronically controlled shock absorbers. If once you could only adjust the seat and mirrors, today every driver can personalize their car and adapt it to their needs.

Dainius Leonavičius, a social network content creator, is a bit more cautious in his statements. In his opinion, although the optional modes give the driver more confidence in himself and the vehicle, it should be noted that such systems are not all-powerful, but only more useful in the respective situations. D. Leonavičius explains his observations by the fact that most of those modes work according to the information transmitted by the wheel sensors – the computer constantly records changes in rotation speeds and other indicators and accordingly selects the driving algorithm selected for specific conditions. The journalist claims that driving modes that improve grip in difficult traffic conditions are especially useful.

The rather high level of inflation in the country and “boldly” jumping fuel prices imply for car owners the desire to make communication with their car not only pleasant, but also cheaper. Although more economical driving is considered a skill, the car nevertheless responds to such a driver’s wish with the “Eco” mode, which dampens the response to pressing the accelerator. So, in this way, you can save fuel on a longer trip, that is, you can make your trip cheaper.

The “ECO” mode, by extending the accelerator pedal stroke, reminds you of more economical driving and the desire to reduce fuel consumption. Otherwise, the car becomes the driver’s economics teacher. And not only. It seems to be a safety teacher too, because in order to save money, “ECO” dictates the decision not to exceed the speed limit.

Of course, the capabilities of the car alone do not determine perfect communication with the driver. The person sitting at the wheel must have certain driving skills, information about the technical capabilities of the car. After all, every small detail helps to create a more complete picture of the car. Google is also ready to help with this. Browse through to find expert advice on how to improve the communication in question.

Thus, what makes driving easier promotes excellent communication between the driver and the car.

Which person who has sat behind the wheel of a car after a long and confusing journey will not pat their car for the GPS tracking system installed in it when they get out?! It is this system that makes the driver be grateful to the car that transported him, because his trip to a foreign country or city becomes less tiring, therefore pleasant and even more economical, because he chooses a closer route to the object he wants to reach.

When you remember the nominees of the “Green Transport Awards”, which promote less polluting movement of people and goods – three autonomous cars delivering LastMile goods in Vilnius – you unconsciously realize that digital innovation is successfully influencing driver-car communication.

It is clear that new scientific inventions facilitate the communication between the driver and the car, making it almost perfect. And in order for that “dialogue” between the driver and the car to be even smoother, it is necessary not to forget to take care of the “well-being” of your vehicle – to perform a mandatory technical inspection on time. If you are not sure when it will end, download the app from https://carone.app, log in and you will find everything a driver needs in one app – from the expiration of the technical inspection to the possibility of registering at a car service.

As much as we don’t like the mandatory technical inspection procedure, we have to agree that only it usually obliges us to think about the safety and sustainability of ourselves and other road users, and above all, about the excellent relationship with one of our irreplaceable daily “interlocutor”.
