April 26 World Intellectual Property Day is celebrated. On this occasion, the Lithuanian Association of Related Rights for the AGATA portal 15 minutes provided statistics on what songs in 2023 Lithuanians mostly listened.

The songs are divided into two lists – songs that were mostly played by Lithuanian radio stations, and songs that Lithuanian listeners mostly listened to on online music listening platforms such as Spotify, Youtube Music or Deezer.

We also present separate lists of the most listened songs in general and lists of the most listened Lithuanian artists.

It is evident from the statistics that 2023 was Jessica Shy’s year. There are four songs by Jessica Shy in the fifteen most played Lithuanian songs on radio stations, and nine of her songs are in the fifteen most listened to Lithuanian songs on music platforms.

And the most popular song by a foreign artist in Lithuania in 2023. was “Flowers” by Miley Cyrus.

Director of AGATA: society is becoming aware

Association AGATA publishes the Top 100 of the most listened to singles and albums in Lithuania every week, which is presented using the statistics of hearings on international music platforms on the territory of Lithuania, and also analyzes Lithuanian music listening habits.

Director of AGATA, A. Begetė 15 minutes said that he could be happy about public awareness.

“The latest survey on music consumption conducted by Spinter Research showed that over the past year more than half of the population paid for music – bought concert tickets, subscribed to listening platforms, bought a CD or vinyl record. This means that Lithuanians are interested in the world of music, value quality and are ready to pay for legal content to reach them,” said A. Begetė.

She pointed out that in the charts of the most listened to music, approximately 30 percent places are occupied by the works of Lithuanian artists.

“Why is this important?” Because our market is not big and it is not easy to compete with world-famous artists for auditions. But it is obvious that Lithuanian listeners enjoy and support the work of their artists. And this encourages performers to work more productively, creatively and qualitatively,” said A. Begetė.
