Two people were killed in a bomb attack in Kharkiv, the governor of the region said.
Kharkiv is the second largest city in Ukraine, located near the Russian border. Attacks here have increased in recent months as Moscow’s invasion continues for more than two years.
Oleh Synehubov, the governor of Kharkiv, said that on Wednesday morning, “two guided aerial bombs hit the center of the city of Zolochiv”, located about 15 km from the Russian border.
“We are aware of two dead and six wounded civilians, including an 11-year-old boy,” he said on the Telegram social network.
According to O. Synehubov, a 67-year-old man and a 38-year-old woman who were driving a car at the time were killed during the attack.
A 67-year-old woman was killed by Russian shelling in the village of Lelyukivka in the Kharkiv region, near the city of Kupyansk, the governor added.
Meanwhile, the head of the Donetsk region, Vadim Filashkin, reported that two people were killed and six wounded in the town of Girnyk, about 15 km from the front line, in the east of the Donetsk region.
“The Russians attacked the city with hurricanes this afternoon,” he told the Telegram, referring to the missile launchers.
V. Filashkins added that a 57-year-old woman and a 64-year-old man are among the dead.
In recent weeks, Moscow has begun using powerful new guided aerial bombs in its attacks.
