A 15-month-old boy was mauled by two pit bull hybrids in an Italian village near Salerno. Doctors could not save his life – the baby died from his injuries. Witnesses say that two aggressive dogs attacked the child when his mother was carrying him in her arms across the yard.
“We knew these dogs, but they never attacked us. Besides, they had never seen this child before. The dogs must have sensed some kind of danger,” says the boy’s aunt Zia.
The dogs belonged to my mother’s friend
It turned out that the mixed-breeds belonged to the friend of the bitten boy’s mother. By the way, they also injured the mother who tried to protect the child. However, neither the mother nor the woman’s brother, who came to her aid, helped the baby. The dogs tore the son from his mother’s arms in front of her.
“It was a terrible attack. Despite the fact that one of the boy’s uncles tried to help and pull the child out of the mongrel’s jaws, he failed,” says the mayor of the town, Mario Conte.
The aunt of the boy who was bitten to death says that her sister had come to the village for one night.
“My sister came here with her child in the evening. She stayed at her friend’s house and was going to leave this morning,” says Zia.
The dog was kept in Russia
Italian media reports that the pit bull hybrids may have been overly aggressive because the owner allegedly kept them in the basement. The service has already taken the dogs that mauled the child from their owners. Animal rights activists are not in a hurry to blame the hybrids and say that the owners may be to blame for the tragedy.
“Pit bulls are such a complex breed. They are not easy to train, and not just anyone can take care of pit bulls. It would be ideal if only those who have the necessary and very important competences could breed them,” says dog trainer Ettore Santoro.
However, it is obvious that it is simply impossible to look at all pit bull breeders, especially hybrids of this breed.
