Waiting for a baby – in a space dedicated to movement, health and safety: what is special about the “Wolf House” studio? | Life

--

No ordinary mommy’s club

Today, the social space is full of advice on how to prepare for parenthood or how to raise children. One by one, physical spaces are also sprouting up, bringing together parents’ communities and preparing them for the arrival of babies into the world. However, this place is different, says Eglė Aukškalnienė, the founder and manager of the activities and employment studio “Vilkės namai”.

First of all, she notes, there is a physical space for expectant and recently born women and families. However, according to E. Aukškalnienė, “Vilkė namai” is not a center for activities or employment with the little ones.

This study promotes healthy and conscious movement in pregnant women through exercise. Exercises are also relevant when recovering after childbirth, professional consultations are also provided, and trainings are held for expectant and new parents.

“We are currently developing another direction – alternative health. These are movement, awareness, breathing, and meditation classes for women and men. The need for this arose from individual experience, personal experiences of motherhood, which we wanted to realize”, says E. Aukškalnienė.

Therefore, she notes, “Vilke namai” is not an ordinary fathers’ or mothers’ club. Operating for almost a decade, this studio is well-known in the environment of expectant mothers and those raising babies, and throughout the entire period of operation, families have visited it and keep coming back, even with their second or third pregnancy.

Courage for parenthood is built in peace

When asked how the idea to create such a space came about, E. Aukškalnienė remembers that nine years ago, after the birth of her son Vincent, she began to write a blog. Then the head of the studio “Vilkė namai” wanted to share and talk about motherhood experiences, worries and everyday life.

“These are very popular topics on social networks today. Many accounts talk about them, although there were hardly any similar when I wrote it myself. The blog didn’t last long – later it turned into a “body” and a studio of activities. She needed a name. I thought of the wolf, an animal with an extremely strong maternal instinct. This is how such a beautiful interface was born. She embodies our main message. We have created a space for a healthy, truly self-care mom who balances herself emotionally, physically and spiritually. Having set this goal, we feel amazing when we get the same feedback,” the interviewer smiles.

Therefore, she adds, “Vilke namai” creates a safe, cozy and calm space where a woman can come, rest, and be herself. Yes, according to E. Aukškalnienie, today we managed to form a real alternative in the age of information overload, full of advice and advisors, service providers and consultants.

“We are mostly focused on peace, safety and the desire to bring back the knowledge that families expecting babies can really do a lot on their own. They are already excellent parents who raise themselves with interest. Therefore, we consciously try not to give instructions that one or the other is mandatory. We want parents to relax, and then the best decisions, courage and confidence are born. After all, there is no peace and quiet in tension, right? We think so too, and that’s why we believe that competence, selection of knowledge, professional advice and a safe space can be useful and unique,” she notes.

A team of specialists and a strong community

When asked how this philosophy of the studio looks in practice, E. Aukškalnienė shares the daily experience of “Wolf House”. According to the interviewer, there are currently exercises for expectant women led by physiotherapists-trainers. The studio also invites pregnant women, mothers after giving birth or women who have not had childbirth experience to yoga classes.

According to E. Aukškalnienė, pilates for pregnant women in the evenings and weekends also attracts a lot of interest. The studio also offers postpartum exercise in groups and personal consultations for postpartum and pregnancy conditions.

“We cooperate with specialists in various fields – doctors, midwives, doulas, psychologists, occupational therapists. They conduct personal sessions in our studio, as well as training for parents-to-be. In addition, health education – kuksando – seminars, trainings and practices have been held here for a year. We try to meet all customer needs. If people have personal expectations, we organize individual activities or trainings”, says the founder of the studio.

All this, she assures, allows us to enjoy wonderful results. The studio “Vilkė namai” has gathered a strong and close-knit community of parents, who are very curious and want to learn and do a lot.

“Being very greedy, such people sometimes get tired and lose their peace due to the external flow of information and various offers. Therefore, sooner or later they start looking for ways to calm down, balance themselves. This is what families find in our space. Having become part of an open, friendly, supportive community, it is not uncommon for women who visit here to find friendship. They share a similar pregnancy period, the same interests and hobbies. I am glad that our community is stable and loyal. It is not uncommon for women to return to movement classes again and again. And that is very inspiring to be proud of. We feel appreciated and have fulfilled our goals”, sums up E. Aukškalnienė.
