Princess Catherine Middleton has been awarded the title of Royal Companion of the Knights of Honour.

“He always had a special fondness for her. For him, she is like a daughter he never had. He, just like William, feels an obligation to protect her,” royal biographer Sally Bedell Smith told People.

The king, like Catherine, has been suffering from an oncological disease for some time. According to sources, he is proud of Catherine for coming out publicly about her cancer on March 22.

The title given to Prince William in 1725. was founded by King George I, but it is believed that it was originally established back in the 8th century.

Queen Camilla also received a new title, becoming Grand Master of the British Empire and First Lady of the Grand Cross, the highest order of the British Empire.

Order of the British Empire in 1917. was established by King George V in order to honor a wider segment of society – both military and civilians.

It consists of five classes, of which the two chief ones give the recipient the title of knight or dame.

The title of Grand Master has previously been held twice by Queen Elizabeth II’s husband Prince Philip (1953-2021) and Queen Mary (1936-1953).

In keeping with tradition, on April 23, the day of St. George, the patron saint of England, the king also appointed four new members of the Order of the Garter.

The 77-year-old Duchess of Gloucester, the wife of Elizabeth II’s cousin, received these titles. It is the first time that a person of non-royal blood, who was not the spouse or heir of a monarch, has received this order.

The other three new members of the Order of the Garter are Air Chief Marshal Lord Peach, Honorary Lord Kakkar and Lord Lloyd-Webber.

The Order of the Garter is the oldest order of knighthood in the United Kingdom, founded almost 700 years ago by King Edward III.

An annual procession and service is held at Windsor Castle, during which members of the order wear velvet robes and hats decorated with an ostrich feather.
