Princess Kate (42), daughter-in-law of King Charles (75), has been awarded the title of Royal Companion of the Knights of Honour. This event is historic: the Princess of Wales became the first royal companion to be elevated to this order.

The Order of Cavaliers of Honor appeared in 1917. It was established by King Jurgis V. The order is awarded for outstanding achievements in the fields of arts, science, medicine and public service. There can be no more than 65 members of this order at any one time (although citizens of non-Commonwealth countries may be considered additional honorary members). The order now includes personalities such as David Attenborough, Elton John, Anna Wintour, Judi Dench and Maggie Smith.

King Charles, like his knighted Princess Kate, is currently undergoing cancer treatment.

“[Karalius] always had a special fondness for her. To him, she is like a daughter he never had, royal biographer Sally Bedell Smith told People. “He, like William, feels an obligation to protect her.”

According to a Buckingham Palace source, King Charles is proud of Catherine for having the courage to announce her illness on March 22. Now they’re not just a king and queen-to-be, but two patients dealing with similar problems, the source stressed, adding: “[Jų] the relationship is close. <...> I think that [Kate] how reassuring to know that you can reveal a little bit of personal information without necessarily telling everything.”

Prince William (41) was awarded the title of Grand Master of the Most Honorable Order of the Bath by his father. Previously (from 1974 to 2022), this title belonged to Charles, but since he became king, the place has been empty.

The Most Honorable Bath Order, as a military order of the aristocracy, was established by King George I in 1725, but its origins are believed to date back to the 8th century. The order is awarded for exemplary service and can be awarded to both military and civilian personnel.

Queen Kamila also received a new title from her husband. She was awarded the Grand Dame Commander’s Cross of the Order of the British Empire and the title of Grand Master.

The Order of the British Empire was established by King George V in 1917. It can be used to honor representatives of a fairly wide strata of society, both military and civilian. The order can be of different degrees, according to which the recipients are divided into five categories. The highest titles are knight and dame.

The title of Grand Master has previously been conferred on two monarch consorts, Prince Philip (1953-2021) and Queen Mary (1936-1953). From 1917 to 1936, when he was Prince of Wales, this title also belonged to King Edward VIII, who became the Duke of Windsor after abdication.
