“The incident has been registered, after clarifying the information, further investigation will be decided,” Odeta Jukniūtė, representative of the Panevėžys district police, told Elta on Sunday. For his part, the politician announces that he only intended to fill out a declaration due to the traffic accident.

“On Saturday morning, around 10:30 a.m., I got into a car accident in Panevėžys, during which a cyclist was injured. Near my house, I crossed a small intersection, into which a bicycle and pedestrian path joins on my right. Visibility in that area is poor because of the fence. When I almost crossed the intersection, a cyclist cut into the middle of the car from the right. I stopped, asked how he was feeling, but he was already up and showing a bruised and bruised arm, a bruise on his waist. The cyclist was wearing a helmet. To avoid any misunderstandings later, I called the police and medical help myself. The doctors did not find any major injuries on the young man, they asked if he had lost consciousness. The young man said he wasn’t there,” the member of the Seimas announced on Facebook.

According to him, the police officers, taking into account the fact that no serious health injuries were found, suggested not to write a traffic violation report, but to register the damage with the insurance company, which both sides agreed to.

“In any case, my fault in the incident is because the obstacle was on my right side and I had to be more careful. Whether the cyclist had to be more careful when entering the intersection from the bike path, I did not delve into it, because in any case the obstacle was on my right.

I agreed that I was the culprit of the car accident, I apologized and we agreed to meet on Sunday and draw a diagram of the incident together.

But on Sunday, the young man said he felt worse after a while and sought medical attention. They informed the police, and the latter, according to the cyclist, promised to start an investigation.

That’s it for now. I am most happy that it was possible to avoid casualties. Be more careful on the streets, because it’s really not nice when you cause pain to another person through carelessness,” announced a member of the Seimas.
