In Miami GP qualifying, Max Verstappen triumphed after a confident first lap in the last part of qualifying.

Qualifying started with an unexpected result from Daniel Ricciardo. The Australian, who rode confidently all weekend, still got stuck in the first part of the qualification and did not go further.

At the first part of the qualification, everything could have ended for Fernando Alonso. Bottas just 0.010 sec. fell to the veteran who was 15th. True, the 42-year-old veteran, together with Lance Stroll, did not have a better chance in the second part of the qualification.

Alpine is slowly starting to show better form. Both drivers of this team, Pierre Gasly and Esteban Ocon, made it to the second part of the qualification.

In addition to the usual faces, Yuki Tsunoda and Nico Hulkenberg made it to the top ten. They finished 10th and 9th respectively in qualifying.

Most of the riders set their best qualifying lap in the first attempt. Only Sergio Perez with Lewis Hamilton improved their times in the second attempt.

Ferrari drivers Charles Leclerc with Carlos Sainz took 2nd and 3rd place. Sergio Perez finished 4th. McLaren and Mercedes racers followed. Lando Norris’ tactics with medium tires did not work.

Max Verstappen took his seventh consecutive qualifying victory. This is his career high. He is one qualifying win away from the all-time Formula 1 record held by Ayrton Senna with 8 consecutive pole positions.
