Singer Arina joined forces with her son’s father: I am not interested in chasing scandals

--

Arina and her stage colleague, the father of her son Martynas, Vytautas Čeplinskas, took an intriguing step – they decided to talk about the never-before-seen shades of the two of them. Only this time – not in music.

The sun also inspires

“I live perfectly, I enjoy spring, I love the sun very much. All this has probably remained with me since childhood, because I grew up in Crimea, by the sea, for a long time. The sun and the sea are my elements, my inspiration,” Arina smiled.

Famous women rarely give interviews to the media. And the personal life is publicized only to the extent that it is related to musical or other creative activities. As Arina says, she does not pursue scandals due to greater fame, because it is not interesting.

“I don’t want to offend anyone, but someone has said: ‘The talented need help, and the less talented will make their own way in every way.’ As I went through life, I earned respect and gathered a certain circle of people with my real works, not with scandals. We still support each other and help each other,” she said.

Arina is open – she is grateful to fate also for the fact that today, at the age of 55, she can only engage in activities that make her happy. “Concerts, students I teach the intricacies of vocals, and making jewelry are my meditation. I’m so glad I have these three favorite activities. I have enough time for everything – for them, for household chores, and for my favorite walking with Nordic walking sticks,” said the famous woman.

When asked if she could single out a priority activity from what she listed, Arina added: “When I pass on my knowledge to the students, in a certain sense I try to sculpt something from them, that is creativity.” Making jewelry is also a creation, just like concerts – they are never the same, they are always different.”

That everything that Arina undertakes, as if she becomes one, is also evidenced by the situation that later fueled her curiosity to delve into the secrets of jewelry making. “My jewelry broke. Since I didn’t have anything to wear during the concert, I bought the tools, the necessary details and made it myself. Then, after returning from the concert, I look – those tools are lying around, a bunch of various materials, details – you need to do something with them, use them. That’s how it started,” smiled the singer who is called the blues queen.

Jewelery stories

Arina said that she acquired the necessary knowledge about jewelry making techniques through distance learning. According to the interviewee, there were no major difficulties in understanding the specifics. The main rule that guides her is the ease of the flow of thoughts and a cold mind.

“Of course, I am a living person. There are days when I’m not in the mood – maybe the moon isn’t like that. Sometimes I get mild depression, but it passes quickly, because I don’t like to be depressed for a long time. I kick myself in the ass, get up and move on. If I’m depressed, I don’t force myself to do anything – I don’t touch jewelry or housework,” the famous woman said.

Arina said that she does not have any memorable stories related to the creation of jewelry, but she admitted: “I am very happy to see when people dress up with stories told in different patterns in the jewelry I create. Everyone interprets them in their own way. When I show the jewelry to my friends, they say, “Look, there’s hands, look, there’s a cigar, a wolf”… or something. It’s interesting to see how everyone’s imagination works differently.”

Preference for symbols

However, this singer’s work is dominated by jewelry with symbolic meaning: these are heart-shaped works decorated with unique patterns, and, as it is believed, the Hamsa hands, carefully embroidered with tiny beads, protecting against prying eyes, failures, and envy. Also bituts, dragonflies or phoenixes, symbolizing the transformation of each of us on the path of life, determined by ups and downs. Arina also paid tribute to the sea – she created starfish and coral shaped brooches.

The interviewer is open – there have been many requests to create a piece of jewelry according to the specific wishes of a person, but when she receives such an offer, she does not even start talking. “I don’t deal with orders. After all, people’s moods change – they may not like the shade, shape or size. Therefore, please choose from what I have already created”, said Arina.

The singer’s relatives do not accept criticism – they are happy with her creative works, but they share advice on the size of jewelry and their color schemes. Nevertheless, Arina is not going to rest on her laurels – she has no shortage of demands. She even checks the strength of jewelry herself: she sleeps, bathes, rubs and throws them while wearing them.

I want a person to enjoy his talisman for as long as possible. Jewelry speaks, it emits unique energy and vibrations.

“I try to make them high-quality, because I want them to last as long as possible. Who knows, maybe that piece of jewelry will become a person’s talisman, so what if it breaks, breaks or falls apart? I want a person to enjoy his talisman for as long as possible. Jewelry speaks, it emits unique energy and vibrations,” said the interviewer.

Joined forces

The fact that music and other art go hand in hand in Arina’s life, she proved at the end of April not only with words, but also with actions. From Klaipėda, they invited their stage colleague V. Čeplinskas, the musician of the group “Veto Bank”, the father of their son Martynas, to Kaunas, so that the two friends would present their creative works at the exhibition “Shades of Blues” held at Rasa’s “Gulbės” gallery. Arina – designer jewelry, and Vytautas – paintings.

“I called Vytukas – he gladly agreed, I talked him into it without much effort”, the singer smiled and added that even though their personal relationship did not work out and everyone went their separate ways, to this day they perform together, get along well and support each other.

“Everything happened impromptu – I was supposed to exhibit my paintings at an exhibition in Prienai, but it was moved to autumn. Arina suggested: “Maybe we should hold an exhibition together in Kaunas?” Such an adventure, but I agreed to go on it. We united and organized everything in two weeks”, said V. Čeplinskas.

“Why did you decide to call the exhibition “Shades of Blues”?” we asked. “There is quite a lot of blues in our music, and shades of blues can be different – painting, jewelry, and much more. Blues is our whole life,” said the artist.

And when asked if he sees a connection between his paintings and Arina’s original jewelry, the interviewer quipped: “There are painted women in my paintings, and Arina creates a lot of jewelry for women.”

Realized a dream

V. Čeplinskas is open – he goes to the studio in the port city to paint every day, and in his paintings he captures not only natural scenes, among which there is a significant part of the sea, people, but also abstractions. He is interested in everything, but the most important thing in his works is depth and meaning.

Art has accompanied the man since childhood – he graduated from an art school, then studied design at the then Art Institute in Vilnius, participated in various projects, but he admits – at that time he was distant from painting.

“I dived into music, and art was put aside, but in my heart I always wanted to paint and I told everyone: “I’ll start one day anyway.” I came back four years ago. There was free time because I moved to the “senior team”. And in this “team” there is plenty of time – from morning to evening”, V. Čeplinskas ended the conversation cheerfully.
