“The Polish Armed Forces will join the international coalition established by France, the purpose of which is to help prepare for the 2024 Summer Olympic Games and ensure their security,” Polish Defense Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz said on the X social network.

“A task force of our soldiers, including service dogs, will be sent to Paris. Its main purpose will be to carry out operations related to the detection of explosives and the prevention of terrorist acts,” the minister added.

On Thursday, the General Staff of the Polish Armed Forces announced that the decision had already been made.

“We are currently preparing a working group for the Olympic Games,” General Staff spokesperson Joanna Klejszmit told the AFP news agency.

She added that the Chief of Staff of the French Armed Forces, General Thierry Burkhard, is visiting Poland on Thursday.

The exact number of troops that Poland will send to France is not yet known.

According to Defense Minister Sebastien Lecornu, 18 thousand will be mobilized for the Olympic Games. French soldiers, of which 3 thousand will be responsible for aerial surveillance.

The Paris Summer Olympics will be held from July 26 to August 11.
