Electric vehicles could be the future of transportation, but first, battery life would need to be significantly improved before such models could be said to be more durable than cars equipped with internal combustion engines.

IM Motors recently announced its latest electric car, the L6 sedan, which was first unveiled in February in Geneva. This is the second sedan of four models produced. Prices will start from around 29.6 thousand. euros, and the most expensive option will be sold for approximately 42.5 thousand. euros. A total of three versions will be launched.

The ultra-quick-charging, quasi-900V solid-state battery option is likely to be the most expensive. The model is believed to support 400 kW of charging power, and in just 12 minutes of charging, it will provide a range of 400 km, according to the CLTC standard.

The L6 sedan produced by IM Motors will be the first in the world to have this type of technology. The solid-state battery will hold 130 kWh and the normal driving range according to the CLTC standard will be more than 1000 kilometers, of course, bearing in mind that until now, the range according to the CLTC standard has always been far from reality.

If you choose the entry or mid-level trim, it will consist of two battery packs of 90 kWh and 100 kWh. The models will be advertised as having a range of 700 km to 770 km, also to the CLTC standard.

The L6 model has a length of 4931 mm, a width of 1960 mm, a height of 1474 mm, and a wheelbase of 2950 mm. The car has similar dimensions to the Tesla Model 3 and Zeekr 007, only slightly larger.

The L6 model will have single-motor rear-wheel drive and dual-motor all-wheel drive. The first variant will provide 216 kW of power, while the second will jump to 579 kW.

As you can see, inside the car is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295P chip and an Nvidia Orin X chip, the steering wheel is not round, and there are also many large screens. IM Motors claims that the new car has an “intelligent digital chassis” that gives the car the ability to move sideways (crab walk).

The IM-branded L6 will likely never be offered outside of China, but there are rumors that the cars could be sold internationally under the MG brand owned by SAIC, one of China’s biggest auto industry giants, which also has a controlling stake in part of the package in the company “IM Motors”.
