Average flight prices rose by 12.7 percent during the month (February compared to January). That’s the sharpest jump in February since at least 2008. For comparison: 2023 in February, compared to January of the same year, plane tickets rose in price by 6.2 percent, in 2022 – 2.5 percent, in 2021 – 7.6 percent

According to the service, the most expensive flights to Barnaul, Grozny, Blagoveshchensk, Murmansk and Ulan-Ude (by 88, 84, 77, 77, 76 and 71 percent, respectively).

“The price of a flight in each direction is affected by many factors, from changes in the schedule of carriers to certain local events that can provoke increased demand at that time,” noted Yandex Travel.

Each airline has its own dynamics of price growth, but “in general, yes, prices have increased slightly in the first two months of this year”, confirmed the representative of Smartavia.

Prices are influenced by the size of state subsidies, changes in the route network, the airline’s aircraft fleet and their occupancy during a certain period of the year, the carrier explained. Prices are also affected by the increasing costs of airlines: airport costs, the price of fuel and lubricants, the actual growth of the currency component, etc.

Air travel became even more expensive in March: tickets are now sold at 50% off. more expensive than last year, according to Yandex Travel. Smartavia confirmed that “prices did indeed increase slightly” in March.
