On Friday, people who wanted to say goodbye to Gintarus Zdebskis and pay their respects to his bereaved family started going to the funeral home in Vilnius since the morning.

It was already the second day of training. The urn of the deceased stood in the hall covered in white flowers, next to it were burning candles, brought flowers, photo of G. Zdebskis.
Those gathered remembered the moments of the famous man’s life while listening to his songs.
Later, the funeral of the urn began, the closest people of G. Zdebski lined up in the yard. The gathered once again honored the deceased with prayers and bright thoughts.
On Friday, it was possible to see the arrivals of Ingas and Arūnas Valinskas, Elena Puidokaitė-Bruzgulienė, Milisandra and Algirdas Radzevičius, Irena Starošaitė and Žilvinas Žvagulis, Raji Aleksandrovičius and others.

The performer, his close friend Žilvinas Žvagulis, was the first to say goodbye to G. Zdebski. Delphi he said that he and his friend planned to meet at the recording studio, but at that time the man was not feeling well.
“We spoke on the phone, he dictated what I should do, we spoke on Saturday evening, on Sunday his sister informed me that he had left. I myself found her missed calls, and Valinskas called and told me this news.
I just managed to say to him: “Just don’t tell him he’s sick”, that was the feeling. I just know what the situation is, yesterday my sister and I chose a suit, an urn, the family said goodbye to the body. Amber was interesting, hardworking, thought differently,” said Ž. A star.
The most vivid memory with Delphi Stanislavas Stavickis-Stano also shared. He said that in 2000, when he was in the 12th grade, he took his first record, the song “Dreams” to M-1 and Lietu. Then, according to the performer, there was no hope that it would be played.
“These were not those times. Now there’s Youtube, all kinds of platforms. And in those days only the radio station could play your songs. Two days later I heard that at 3 p.m. my song will play. Decades later, when I was talking to Zdebski, I asked him, “Did you know you played my song?” He replied that he knew. It really touched me that he still remembers after all this time. He sincerely listened to young artists who brought their records to the radio station. This was very important to him, he was always in favor of authors creating youth”, said S. Stavickis-Stano.
Delphi reminds that at the beginning of the week the news appeared that the long-time manager of the radio station “Lietus” G. Zdebskis died. The sad news was reported on the social networks of the Lietus radio station.

Having discovered and gathered radio presenters, created the vision of the music played and the direction of the radio station, led “Lieta” for as many as 20 years, Gintaras undoubtedly became our history – as the head of the radio station, teacher, inspiration, initiator and manager of the “Aukso Lašas” Rain music awards, author and creator of legendary songs.

G. Zdebskis since 2019 left the position of manager on December 30. Currently, the radio station is managed by Rūta Grušnienė, the general director and shareholder of the M-1 group.
Earlier, R. Grušnienė, who confirmed that G. Zdebskis is no longer working at “Lieutu”, said that he was fired by the decision of the shareholders’ meeting, and refrained from further comments on the reasons for such a decision.
Mr. Zdebskis said that his decision to leave was due to personal reasons. He therefore planned to devote his energies to a personal business not related to the media. In April 2020, it would have been 21 years since he worked at “Lieutu”, so he said that he had decided that such time was already enough.

Arūnas Valinskas last spoke with G. Zdebski the day before his death
Mr. Zdebskis had many plans and was currently working together with his close friend, TV producer Arūnas Valinskas. The last time they spoke was on the eve of his death.
“We were very close friends,” Delphi said A. Valinskas.
Arunas and Gintaras were connected not only by friendship, but also by joint work. Recently, they have been working on songs for the upcoming Golden Onions.
“It was his last job. We wrote the texts together for this year’s Golden Onions. True, he left on Sunday. The news just came on Tuesday. A significant number of songs that will be played at this year’s event will be written by Gintaro. I don’t know, this period is kind of cursed for me. Gintaras managed to touch the “Nida Festival” that will take place in the summer.
A hymn was being prepared for the Nida Festival, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, and one of its authors was Gintaras. He had already agreed to work on the final song of the festival, where both the music and the lyrics are his. Since we had a lot in common, we called each other twice a day. We talked the day before. This song is his last written piece,” said the TV producer.
The author of works who helped many artists become famous is an important person in the world of music. Therefore, in commemoration of his great contribution, preparations were made to leave his memory on the Nida Walk of Fame next year.
“Life turned out to be completely different. I just received his sister’s blessing today. His palm stamp will be removed and Gintaras will be next to other artists for whom he wrote many great songs this year,” said the grieving friend.
A. Valinskas was informed about the loss of his friend on Tuesday by the deceased’s sister.
“His sister informed me on Tuesday morning. She said she found him on Sunday. An ambulance was called and he was pronounced dead,” said A. Valinskas.
