Lithuania’s reaction to “radicals” attacking Belarus has no connection with reality

The head of the Belarusian KGB also told a story about how his agents “performed Chekist actions” and allegedly prevented a drone attack from Lithuanian territory.

“The State Security Committee, in cooperation with colleagues from other security services, has recently carried out several Chekist actions that prevent military drone strikes from the territory of Lithuania on objects in Minsk and its surroundings,” he added.

Intensification of information warfare in Belarus

Recently, informational attacks by the Belarusian regime against Lithuania, as well as against Belarusians living in Lithuania with opposition views, have intensified. Attempts are being made to crack down on a national basis, and fear of hostilities is being raised.

Military exercises were also started on the border of Belarus, a few tens of kilometers from Lithuania.

“The information disseminated by the Belarusian services about pseudo-groups allegedly residing in Lithuania and Poland, aiming to harm Belarus, is not new. We have been hearing such narratives for a long time, they became especially active in the Baltic countries during NATO exercises of a defensive nature, and Lukashenka spoke similarly at the beginning of March.

Such statements of the Belarusian KGB can be evaluated as a continuous hostile provocation and an informational attack against Lithuania, which has nothing to do with reality. It can be estimated that they are also intended for the domestic audience of the country, as the “nation’s meeting” is currently taking place.

We would like to remind you that citizens of Lithuania traveling to Belarus are faced with increasing pressure and interrogations from the security services of this country, so there remains an urgent recommendation to refuse any trips in this direction”, commented Vilmantas Vitkauskas, head of the National Crisis Management Center (NRVK NKVC), on the situation.
