“I urge the US Senate to quickly send this package to my desk so that I can sign it, so that we can quickly send weapons and equipment to Ukraine that it needs on the battlefield,” Mr. Biden announced after the US House of Representatives passed the support package for Ukraine on Saturday, confirming that the last step in the adoption of the law will be assisted by the president in the near future.

Back in February, the US Senate approved 95 billion A US dollar aid package for Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan, the bill has been stuck in the US House of Representatives ever since.

On Saturday, the support package was adopted by the US House of Representatives after long discussions and political games. Despite criticism from far-right Republicans, House Speaker Mike Johnson insisted he would rather send “ammunition than American boys” to Ukraine.

For its part, on Saturday, the US-based Institute of Military Studies explained that the law on the support package will bring tangible benefits to the defenders of Ukraine only a few weeks after its entry into force due to logistical reasons.

Analysts added that the Russian forces will have a limited period of time during which they can continue their offensive operations – once the military support reaches the Ukrainian forces, they will be able to stabilize the situation at the front.

61.8 billion US dollars worth of support to Ukraine will help strengthen its defenses, but without additional resources, it is unlikely to be a significant factor in changing the direction of the war, Bloomberg reports.

Although the US Congress approved the package of support for Ukraine after long debates, and for this reason many optimistic statements were heard, the 6-month American delay has caused a lot of damage to Ukraine – the army is facing not only a severe shortage of ammunition, but also personnel problems.

Meanwhile, the Politico news portal, quoting US officials, asserts that Washington will provide Ukraine with Bradley infantry fighting vehicles, Humvee armored vehicles, and M113 tracked armored vehicles as part of its latest support package. It added that the package would also include artillery and air defense capabilities.

Earlier, US Assistant Secretary of Defense for International Security Affairs Celeste Wallander told lawmakers that the Pentagon planned to deliver the aid “within a week or two” of its approval.
