Maia Kennedy, 38, underwent abdominal surgery in February to remove a growth that was initially thought to be non-cancerous, but to her surprise, subsequent tests revealed that the growth was indeed cancerous.

After several difficult and stormy months, Maia heard that the cancer was defeated. Maia said that as a young, healthy woman, she understands how life-changing the news is, and sympathizes with Princess Kate, who announced last Friday that tests had confirmed cancer following abdominal surgery in January.

Before the operation, Kate said doctors did not think the growth was cancerous. The 42-year-old Princess of Wales did not say what kind of cancer she has, and Kensington Palace said it would “not share any further private medical information” as Kate’s focus is on “making a full recovery”. mirror.co.uk.

Wishing Kate well, Maia said: “As a young and healthy woman you never think that this is going to happen to you. I never thought this would happen. But it can happen to anyone.

I really feel for Kate because what she’s going through is a difficult time, not to mention being in the public eye.”

in 2023 in December, Maia began to feel nauseous and her bowel habits changed, which her GP had initially written off as acid reflux.

However, more detailed studies showed that there is a tumor in the large intestine, so in 2024. in February, as part of a routine procedure, she underwent surgery to remove the tumor. Experts initially thought that the formation was not cancerous.

However, a few weeks after the surgery, a biopsy of the growth revealed that it was cancerous. Maia was told that it was stage one bowel cancer and that she did not need chemotherapy. She is now in remission.

Maia said: “I knew something was wrong but I didn’t expect them to find something like this – it was a huge shock to me. From December to March, everything happened very quickly. It took over my life, but it was for a short period of time. It’s very strange to say that I had cancer.”

She added: “It was the hardest thing I’ve ever been through. When I heard about Kate’s tummy tuck, my thoughts were with her.”

Maia said Kate’s post-surgery diagnosis is similar to her own diagnosis: “At the time they didn’t say it was cancerous, like they initially said, it wasn’t cancerous at all.”
