V. Uspaskichas suspends his membership in the Labor Party, V. Bukauskas will run in the EP elections

This was announced by party chairman Andrius Mazuronis to BNS after the meeting of the party council held on Thursday.

V. Uspaskich suspended his membership in the party, he will not be a candidate in the European Parliament, he will not be among the candidates. My first deputy, member of the faction Valentinas Bukauskas, will lead, said A. Mazuronis.

According to him, the workers decided to participate in the EP elections after a long and intensive discussion.

According to A. Mazuronis, the party council has not made any further decisions yet, further conclusions of the law enforcement investigation are awaited.

Today, there is too little information to make any decisions, we need to wait a bit and get more information from law enforcement in order to be able to consider what we are doing next and where we are moving next, said the party chairman.

Viktoras Fiodorovs, deputy chairman of the party, member of the working group in the Seimas, thought earlier on Thursday that it might be time for the party to let go. According to A. Mazuronis, the request was not discussed at the council meeting.

According to the labor leader, no decision has yet been made regarding participation in the Seimas elections.

Regarding the Seimas (election of BNS), we did not discuss it, it was too early. We mainly discussed the EP elections, how to deal with the leader of the party, his membership in the party and other things, said A. Mazuronis.

The chairman of the party also does not change his position regarding the participation in the presidential elections.

I always said that people collected a lot of money, but it’s just not good (not to participate in BNS) for those people who collected, interviewed, allowed people to sign, said A. Mazuronis.

The European Public Prosecutor’s Office is conducting an investigation during which law enforcement performed procedural actions at the labor headquarters in Vilnius.

A. Mazuronis claimed on Tuesday that the investigation is related to the activities of the former party leadership in the EP. The only representative of the Labor Party in the EP is its leader, Honorary Chairman V. Uspaskich. He also once had to lead the party in the European Parliament elections.

The labor leader says that the investigation is not related to anyone in the current leadership of the party or any person currently holding any position in the party.

He did not mention the name of V. Uspaskich, but indirectly let it be understood that the investigation is being conducted due to the activities of the party wing.

According to A. Mazuronis, the investigation was discussed at the party meeting, so he will not be able to answer many questions of the party members.

It is very difficult to discuss these issues, because no one can say anything. Party members ask a lot of questions, which we cannot answer due to one reason or another, whether because they agree or because they don’t. It is decided that we will enter into this discussion in the near future, when there is more information, he said.

On Tuesday, in the headquarters of the Labor Party, law enforcement performed procedural actions, the investigation is controlled by the European Delegated Prosecutor Vytautas Kukaitis.

Law enforcement does not yet comment on the nature of the investigation or on whose behalf it is being conducted.
