The finalists of the contest “Lithuanian press photography 2024” have been revealed: among them

The traditional contest “Lietuvos spaudos fotografia 2024”, which has been organized for 23 years, this time received more than 3,000 photos from 90 professional photographers throughout Lithuania, the organizers report. Andrius Repšys and Arvydas Gudas from Panevėžys were also evaluated. Photographers’ photographs were evaluated in the categories “Nature and its protection” and “Culture and entertainment”.

Added a new category

This year, the competition program was filled with a new “Open” category, intended for photography students and enthusiasts. This category also attracted a lot of attention from the participants – nearly 40 beginner photographers from all over Lithuania submitted their works. It is clear that press photography remains important and necessary for society – it is a powerful tool that allows us to look at the world a little more closely, capture important events, emotions and moments of life. The photographs were evaluated by a competent international competition commission.

Awards in Viliaus Town Hall

The “Lietuvos spaudos fotografia” competition has been trying to encourage the country’s photojournalists to responsibly prepare visual information, while at the same time looking for a unique approach to events in the country and the world. And although the rules of the competition are regularly updated, taking into account the experience of global competitions and the development of photo technology, their main requirement – not to deviate from reality – always remains.

All the shots selected by the evaluation committee will be seen for the first time at the exhibition in Vilnius Town Hall, which will traditionally be opened at the beginning of May. During the opening ceremony, the winners of each category will be announced and awarded with the “Golden Frame” awards, and the winner of the “Open” category will receive a special award.

The residents of Panevėžys were also evaluated

Panevėžys Arvydas Gudas, Andrius Repšys, Stasys Povilaitis, Stasys Skrebys and Salvija Vaičekonytė submitted photographs to the “Lietuvos spaudos fotografia” competition.

The most important awards can be expected by A. Repšys, who submitted a photograph in the category “Nature and its protection” and A. Gudas – “Culture and entertainment”.

Photographer S. Povilaitis submitted photographs for the categories “Nature and its protection”, “Portrait”, S. Skrebys – “Culture and entertainment” and “Diplomacy”, A. Gudas – “Life” and S. Vaičekonytė in the open category.
