“Ekonovus” decided to ride on the sidewalk: the company is investigating this incident – MadeinVilnius.lt

--

Residents noticed that “Ekonovus” constantly drive on the sidewalk or bike path on Giedraičiai Street when collecting garbage. In addition, residents claim that the waste collection company drives in front of the traffic. After people recorded this incident, company representatives assured that they would find out why the waste collectors were not driving according to the rules.

While some residents say that such a case should not be justified, others come to the defense of garbage collectors. Residents are speculating whether waste collectors are an exception to the KET, when it is allowed to ride on the lawn, sidewalk and bike path with an orange beacon on. However, the orange beacon was not on in the video.

Another group of residents claims that the waste collector did this because he did not want to create a traffic jam – if he stopped on the street, other cars would not pass. However, in the Old Town, garbage collectors often stop on the streets and do not interfere with smooth traffic, and if necessary, wait.

The company itself does not comment further on this situation.

“We are clarifying why this happened and what we can do in the future to avoid similar situations”, say representatives of “Ekonovus”.

The company also thanked the residents for their attention. By the way, it is not the first time that Vilnius residents have recorded strange situations in which “Ekonovus” is at the center of events. We wrote about the last such event in the winter, when the employees of this company spread an illegal amount of salt with their hands, which could harm the trees.
