Guests from abroad will also entertain the guests of the city’s festivities

In four weeks, the city days will be celebrated in Taurage. Culture workers assure that the events on the holiday weekend will surprise both fans of professional art and those who miss the big city fairs. It is estimated that the celebration will cost a little more than 150 thousand euros.

It has become a tradition to celebrate the city holiday on the first weekend of June, together with Father’s Day. Šarūnė Stasytienė, the head of the Culture Department of the Tauragė district municipality, does not yet reveal which famous national bands will entertain the people of Tauragė, but intrigues by announcing that fans of jazz, opera and pop music will find entertainment.

– The official start of the holiday is announced on May 30. We will start with the opening of the jazz festival. During the year of the Capital of Culture, we saw that both this festival and the celebration come together very nicely. The celebration will continue until June 2, Father’s Day. We will have a new project with the Kaunas Symphony Orchestra. It will be very interesting. Who will sing on the second day, I can’t publicize yet, all the purchases have not been completed. I can only say that four groups will perform, or to be more precise, two groups, a soloist and a DJ, – said Š.Stasytienė.

During the festival, there will be no events in the Castle Square, but there will be a street theater from Poland traveling through the city. Actors will imitate the life of the townspeople to the sound of music. According to the organizers, as every year, JVKalvanos Park will host an entertainment zone for children: there will be trampolines, educational programs, and animators will entertain children. Entertainment for the little ones will be free.

– We want everyone to be able to celebrate that weekend, so the entertainment will be free. We will provide a stage for all students who want to perform at the festival, they will prepare a concert program near the trampoline area. Churches, Republics and part of the February 16th street festival will be dedicated to the fair. This year, we are paying more attention to the stage set-up in the Summer stage. There will be lights, lasers, and unique sound solutions. There will be no fireworks this year either. The Tauragians are understanding and do not make claims about the fact that we do not shoot fireworks, said Š.Stasytienė.

When asked which day of the holiday will be the main one, Š.Statytienė could not single out one of the four. According to the head of the Culture Department, Saturday and Sunday entertainment attracts more people simply because they don’t have to go to work.

– I can guarantee that Friday’s concert will be of the highest level. There will be an interesting classical and opera project. The big concert will take place on Saturday and it will be a popular music concert, – announced Š.Stasytienė.

On the first day of the celebration, an honorary citizen badge will be presented, a 30-year contract with the German partner city Rydstadt will be renewed, and the theater day will be held in Kartų Park every year.

According to Š. Stasytienė, due to the sharp increase in the prices of both performers and technical staff, the budget of the festival will be slightly smaller than last year. Preliminarily, it will reach 150-160 thousand euros.
