“Until now, I have never been asked for personal data when visiting swimming pools. It was not the first time I visited the “Zalgiris” swimming pool, but they did not register visitors before. At least I don’t remember. When I asked who needed my name, I only got the answer: “Do you want to go to the pool or not?” Well, yes, I do. “Say it,” he said.

Maybe the data was needed because I went with a 10-year-old child? But I’ve never been asked that at any other pool. I did not buy a subscription, but a one-time visit. It has become very interesting where that data is used, for what purpose it is collected, how long the information is kept, whether it is adequately protected. Because there are certainly many examples in Lithuania when information about individuals is leaked”, – feared the Kaunian woman.

Data is required when ordering services

Almantas Kiveris, the representative of “Žalgiris” Arena, explained that the reception staff of “Žalgiris” Arena’s swimming pool ask for the name and surname of incoming customers when services are ordered and season tickets are purchased. First and last name is also asked when single visits are purchased.

“This is done so that the name and surname can be registered on the bracelet.

Also in order to ensure that customers have already agreed (or are being asked to agree) to the internal rules of behavior of the “Zalgiris” arena pool. In this case, the customer’s data was needed to check whether she agreed with the aforementioned internal rules of conduct and to issue her a personal bracelet.

The collection and storage of such information is permitted in accordance with Art. GDPR. 6 1d. point b. On what basis we collect such data and how we store it is specified in the privacy policy of the “Žalgiris” Arena swimming pool”, commented A. Kiveris, the representative of “Žalgiris” Arena.
