Native land – reconstruction of Antakalnis street entrusted to UAB “Fegda”

Ukmergė district municipality signed a contract with UAB “Fegda” regarding the reconstruction of Antakalnis street. The duration of the works is announced in the signed contract of works – 9 months.

As informed by Daiva Zimblienė, deputy head of the Information Technologies and Public Relations Department of the district municipality administration, according to the technical work project “Reconstruction of the traffic communication structure Antakalnis Street, Ukmergės” prepared by MB “4infra.LT”, the entire 1.6 km long Antakalnis Street will be reconstructed its construction. New foundations and a new asphalt concrete surface will be installed, concrete paving sidewalks, a bicycle path will appear, speed bumps, elevated intersections and other traffic safety measures will also be installed, street lighting will be updated, and other works will be completed.

UAB “Fegda” has already started preparatory work: traffic restriction schemes, schedule and sequence of works, permits, etc. are being prepared and coordinated. Street reconstruction works are scheduled to start in two weeks, on May 20.

During the reconstruction, it is planned to close the entire Antakalnis street. Traffic will be diverted through the roundabouts on adjacent streets, and only public transport – buses running around the city – will be allowed to drive on the street.

Zimblienė, deputy head of the information technology and public relations department, reminds that Antakalnio street has become a construction site since July of last year, when UAB “Geovizija” began construction and reconstruction of surface sewage networks here. After the completion of the aforementioned works last December, the road surface of the street has been left unmaintained until now, because it would be very expensive and uneconomical to asphalt it, and after a few months (after the street reconstruction works) to remove the asphalt again.

UAB “Fegda” is one of the largest road construction companies in Lithuania, with over 350 employees. UAB “Fegda” belongs to the “Fegda” group of companies, which also includes UAB “Tilsta” and UAB “SRP Projektas”. The main activities of UAB “Fegda” are construction of roads and streets, installation and repair of urban infrastructure and engineering networks.
