This year, it is intended to allocate more than 45% of the defense budget, or almost 1 billion, to the modernization of the Lithuanian army. Eur.

According to the announcement made by the Ministry of National Defense on Friday, the last batch of German Telescopic Kramer loaders was purchased under the contract concluded in 2022 with Dojus Agro, the representative of this manufacturer. The forklifts will be intended for units of the Lithuanian army.

According to the army, the increasing defense budget allows to speed up the implementation of previously prepared long-term plans for the acquisition of weapons and military equipment and to look at new, effective weapons systems.

This year, it is intended to allocate more than 45% of the defense budget, or almost 1 billion, to the modernization of the Lithuanian army. Eur.

The army emphasizes that, as far as possible, it is aimed to carry out acquisitions from Lithuanian manufacturers, so a significant part of the funds remains in the Lithuanian economy, which also allows for the shortening of supply chains.
