In the two-part documentary “Ruta from Hollywood”, which just appeared on Go3 TV, its authors reveal how a chance meeting on a plane with a solid gentleman, the owner of several restaurants, gave Ruta a happy life of almost half a century. Their love story deserves a good script in Hollywood. After being late for the plane and getting almost the last ticket with a seat next to a charming Lithuanian girl from Hollywood, the Texan couldn’t even imagine that he would have to be happy in the shadow of his famous wife. But that shadow was very bright.

Before marriage, Rūta used to joke:

“I probably dated all the men in the world at least once before I met Mr. Right.” Speaking in front of the cameras about her recipe for a happy and long marriage, Rūta does not hide it, having married at a mature age: “I didn’t get married when I was a teenager. I waited a long time for my only one. What kept our bond strong? Webb and I both had a great sense of humor and laughed at everything. Also, Webb’s patience was infinite, and I have absolutely none! He enjoyed my fame and valued all my fans and friends as much as I did, even though it was hard work for him at times.”

It is true that Ruta’s mother Marytė Kilmonienė dreamed that her single daughter would marry a Lithuanian. She secretly looked for a suitable groom for many years, and when Rūta was in love and wanted to get married at the age of seventeen, her mother managed to convince her to wait a little longer.

Among the candidates to win the heart and hand of charming Ruta is a former and brave pilot. Unfortunately, they were separated by tragedy – he died while flying to his beloved on a private plane.

“Good thing I didn’t fly along. I would have died too,” the actress herself shared her memories of her youth in the documentary “Ruta from Hollywood”.

Ruta and Webb did not have children of their own, but their home in the Hollywood Hills was full of noise and clamor – while Webb was alive, there were at least four dogs, three cats running around the house, a large white cockatoo chirping and about 150 hummingbirds.

“They give us a lot of joy and they all live much better than most of the people I know,” Rūta joked.

She and Webb owned not only a huge house reminiscent of old Hollywood in Los Angeles, which Ruta’s parents once bought, but also a villa in the resort city of millionaires in Palm Springs, where the film legend of Lithuanian origin has a star on the local Walk of Fame. The couple also owned homes in Fort Worth and Mexico.

Left a widow, Ruta is still traveling. At least a few times a year, as before with Webb, she goes on long trips. She even went around the world several times.
