During the inspection, GU did not follow the legal instructions of VMVT officials, did not enter the buildings, tried to hide the animals and obstructed the inspection in all other possible ways. Although the citizen engaged in illegal animal breeding activities tried to obstruct the investigation, inspectors found 19 dogs and 4 cats kept and bred in extremely poor conditions in farm buildings and in the field on her property.

During the inspection, it was recorded that the animals were kept in farm buildings, in dark, damp, cool rooms, where there were many foreign objects. The beds for some animals were car tires, and dirty water and sour feed were found in the containers, which gave off a bad smell (porridge of unknown origin was found in the containers).

Cages were installed in the basement of the house, possibly for keeping pets. Some dogs were found in an outdoor aviary during the inspection, and dirt was found in the enclosure.

Although VMVT inspectors had prepared a court order for access to residential and farm premises, GU kept trying to hinder the investigation – they did not cooperate, hid animals, released them from outdoor aviaries, etc., but with the help of Raseiniai district. police commissariat officers and Raseiniai fire rescue service, 19 dogs and 4 cats were taken from GU. These animals were immediately taken to veterinary treatment facilities for examination. All animals are handed over to temporary guardians.

Taking these circumstances into account, administrative offense proceedings were initiated. The investigation into cruel behavior and illegal activities continues, the breeders face a fine, confiscation of animals and a ban on keeping animals as pets for 2 years.

VMVT thanks the volunteers of VšĮ “Lietuva – animals” for their indifference and help in providing information and Raseinių r. to the officers of the police commissariat and the Raseiniai fire rescue service for their operational cooperation.
