The accident was reported at 8 a.m.

The general help center received the information automatically, through the e-call system.

According to one witness, the 36-year-old driver was very shaken by the traffic accident – the woman was in “shock”.

A queue of traffic formed in the direction of Antakalnis street from the city center, and soon the police blocked the traffic temporarily and completely.

The vehicles collided when the Lexus, which was driving from the Sunny side towards the city center, turned left, but did not miss the BMW, which was driving directly from the center side.

The cars that collided remained parked, partially blocking the roadway as well. Antakalnis Street is relatively narrow, many of the capital’s trolleybuses and bus routes run along it, and traffic here is generally intense in the mornings. Soon, two police crews arrived at the scene of the accident. The driver of one of them parked the official minibus in such a way that bystanders would not have any doubts whether it is possible to move past the scene of the incident or not for the time being.

The Communications Sub-Department of the Vilnius County Police does not yet have more detailed information about the Lexus and BMW collision and its consequences.

According to Waze, a driver assistance app, traffic around 9:30 a.m. at the scene of the accident has already been updated. At first the flow was slower, but soon there were no more obstacles.

A number of accidents were also recorded in the capital on the eve, during the evening traffic peak on Thursday. And in the middle of April, a similar traffic incident was inevitable, when public transport was also briefly stuck in Antakalny (see related articles).
