Music lovers of the capital have been waiting for this event for many years: Hania Rani is coming to Vilnius Names

--

Hania Rani’s concert recordings are gaining millions of views on YouTube. She chooses exclusive spaces for her performances, from the royal courtyards of Paris, modern American radio studios to wooden artists’ huts in the mountains of Switzerland.

“Hania Rani is an extremely talented and authentic young artist who plays very modern, aesthetic music. We always want to present something new and unexpected to the fans of the festival, that’s why I am very happy that she will perform for the first time in Lithuania precisely at the “Midsummer Vilnius” festival”, says the festival manager Valdas Petreikis.

The pianist will perform her only performance for the audience of the capital in the Great Courtyard of the Palace of the Lords. The “Immersive sound” technology used at the festival will create a unique experience: it will allow you to enjoy an open-air concert as if you were in a great concert hall.

Famous radio stations such as NPR or KEXP have already recorded the pianist’s performances, which have an impressive sound aesthetic, and the geography of her concerts is expanding every year. Tickets for an artist’s concerts usually sell out long before the show date.

“If I had to single out the one show that I, as a listener, am most looking forward to this summer, it would definitely be Hania Rani. She has everything – great musical taste, charisma and depth, which I miss a lot in everything these days,” Justė Arlauskaitė-Jazzu shares her thoughts.

“I discovered Hania through the YouTube algorithm. It is exactly what you want to relax your mind. To turn on that long look through the window and be in her work, at the same time – in yourself”, Gabrielė Vilkickytė, who will appear on the stage of this festival a few days earlier, poetically responds.

“She is one of the most promising young pianists I have been following for five years now!” I’m really fascinated by the fact that he uses the piano as a source for his electronics. Hania’s music is professional, academic, but at the same time sensual, floating, engaging”, – music producer, composer Adas Gecevičius shares his thoughts.

The Polish composer’s music has already won numerous international awards, and her latest album Ghost (2023) has been named one of the best modern classical albums of the year.
Hania Rani completed her classical piano studies at the prestigious Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw. But her life as a post-classical composer was born in the mecca of electronic music – Berlin.

The pianist’s debut album, Esja, came out five years ago, with the help of Grammy-nominated producer Bergurg Thorisson from Iceland, who has worked with artists such as Bjork.

As the composer herself says, she mixes classical, jazz and electronica when composing – Chopin with Dave Brubeck and Moderat. She is inspired by Max Richter, Esbjörn Svensson, Miles Davis, Nils Frahm, Murcof, Portico Quartet, Radiohead, even The Beatles.

If you haven’t discovered Hania Rani yet, listen to her concert recordings. You will have the opportunity to hear it in Lithuania only once in the near future, in the courtyard of the Palace of Lords, “Midsummer Vilnius”.
