He paid taxes, but he has no insurance

A well-known specialist in his field shared the story of how he found out that he no longer has the citizenship of the Republic of Lithuania, even though he has been living here after a short break abroad for many years, on social networks.

“Inside, everything is exploding, splitting, moving, I will write that. Because I broke while skating on thin Lithuanian ice”, – this is how the Vilnius native begins his recording about the situation.

He is well-known in his field, so he asks not to publish his name. However, the very description of the situation is gladly agreed to share with 15 minutes.

Together with his family, the man emigrated to Israel almost 30 years ago, and received the citizenship of that country. However, just 9 years later, they returned to Lithuania for, as they say, personal and painful reasons. It was 2004, exactly 20 years ago.

“The Lithuanian ambassador in Israel suggested applying for the restoration of Lithuanian citizenship. We applied. The family received it, there were some questions about me… Well, we came back, I went to the Migration Department, they said that there is a question about my metrics (where I was born – confusion). okay He said – live with it, after all, the passport is valid. okay

After that, the passport expired, I went to change it (2006). changed to a new one. in 2016 it expires again, I go to change it again – they issue a new one until 2026. OK, that means everything is in order, they caught me there where I was born, my citizenship is preserved,” says the man.

He went to the clinic and lost his passport

However, as it turned out these days, it was a mistake to think so. The man who decided to seek medical attention for his injured leg says he was very surprised when it turned out that he did not have insurance, although he claims to have paid his taxes honestly, including to Sodra.
