Residents have repeatedly complained about the poor condition of Lauka street, they have kept asking for the sidewalks to be repaired, and it seems that their wish will finally come true. A technical work project is already being prepared at the initiative of the Alytus City Municipality, the aforementioned streets are awaiting changes.
“Major repair works will be carried out on Lauko Street, installing a pedestrian and bicycle path on the left side of the street. A “Bučiuoju-hajujuju” stop for parents will be installed near Šaltinė progymnasium. In the same way, the road surface of the street will be renewed, the sidewalks will be repaired, the entrances to the courtyards of apartment buildings will be widened, and the surface of the parking spaces at the shopping center will be repaired,” informed the Alytus City Municipality Administration.
She also indicated that the intersection of Lauko Street with Šaltinė Street will be transformed into a mini-roundabout. Road signs and horizontal pavement markings will be renewed on the entire street. The pedestrian and bicycle path and all sidewalks will be adapted to the needs of people with disabilities.
The design works are scheduled to be carried out this year, and the repairs will begin next year.
