The attack happened in the car park of the Sevran Cultural Center between central Paris and the city’s main Charles de Gaulle airport at around 11.45pm on Friday. local time (9:45 p.m. GMT), the prosecutor’s office said.
When police officers arrived at the scene, they found four injured people lying on the ground. One of them died soon after, the remaining three were taken to the hospital, their condition is serious, a police source said.
According to him, three more people with gunshot wounds were brought to the hospital later. He added that two men came to the parking lot in a car, one of them got out and started shooting.
After that, the attackers ran away.
The mayor of Sevran, Stephane Blanchet, told the AFP news agency that “it’s clear that drug traffickers were trying to figure out the relationship here.”
“It is necessary to introduce order and eradicate the drug trade,” he said. “Those fools fired real bullets and ignored calls to calm down.”
The police have launched an investigation into a deliberate murder committed by an organized criminal gang. As of Saturday morning, no suspects had been arrested.
