“With this decision, we will seek companies and institutions to take care of their employees, giving them the opportunity to use cheaper long-term tickets. This makes planning trips to work easier – you don’t have to worry about parking for your own car. (…)
If at least some organizations take advantage of this opportunity, it will undoubtedly improve the overall traffic situation in the city, especially during peak hours. The fewer cars on the main arteries, the smoother the journeys of Kaunas residents,” Kaunas Deputy Mayor Andrius Palionis said in a statement.
It is estimated that this decision will not only help residents save money, but also reduce the time spent in traffic jams.
The municipality indicates that in order for employees of the private or public sector to apply for cheaper trips by public transport, it is necessary to purchase at least 100 tickets. In this case, the price of one annual ticket would be 193 euros.
Now a regular annual ticket costs 275 euros.
