T. Jarutis stole property for 411 euros from one victim, the total amount of stolen items from another woman is 1,205 euros. The robber also stole the money taken from the cash register of the store, which was in the employee’s backpack, almost 3,650 euros. Since all things were returned to both victims, she did not file a civil claim.

The robbery took place on January 15 of this year, around 8:00 p.m., near a store in Šiauliai, on Karaliaučius Street. The defendant stated that he used to run there before and had noticed how the saleswoman was leaving the store. That evening, according to the man, the situation was desperate, he was short of money, threatened with eviction, so he went to the store, hid behind the corner of the farm building, waited for the saleswomen to leave, and attacked them.

The previously convicted person from Šiauliai apologized to the victims in court, said that he was very sorry for his behavior, and especially for causing physical pain, because when he ripped off a handbag, one woman fell to the ground, and he bent down to pick it up and hit the victim in the face with the handbag.

The accused said that he had two knives with him, and the screwdriver was left in his jacket pocket from earlier. He had a knife in his hand and told the second woman to give him money, but she didn’t, so he ripped open the backpack and ran away.

One of the victims stated during the pre-trial investigation that after finishing work and locking the door of the store outside, a masked man approached with a stick in his hands. Having suddenly approached, he tore off a black handbag from his shoulder and at the same time punched him once in the face.

The other victim mentioned that the man shouted “give me the money”, she told him that she had no money. Then he growled angrier, and the woman saw the knife in his hand. Frightened, she held out her backpack and the bag of products she still had with her.

After the robbery, the frightened colleagues returned to the store and called the police. That same evening, T. Jarutis was arrested and put in custody.

The case was examined in the procedure of abbreviated examination of evidence, since the accused fully pleaded guilty and agreed that other evidence would not be examined, the examination of evidence in court was terminated. His sentence shall be reduced by one third.
