Šiauliai Janina Paliulienė celebrated a special anniversary on snowy April 23. The old woman celebrated her 100th anniversary in the company of relatives and guests. Šiauliai City Mayor Artūras Visockas also visited Sukaktuvininka.

Janina Paliuliene, a senior living on Gegužiai street in Šiauliai, this day is special, surrounded by her children she celebrated an anniversary that few are destined to see. There is a beautiful tradition in the city that centenarians receive greetings from the heads of the Municipality, so Šiauliai Mayor Artūras Visockas knocked on the door of 100-year-old Janina. The birthday girl welcomed the guests dressed in a dress and having her hair done. The mayor and head of the Department of Metrics, Vilma Melenienė, presented the anniversary with a bouquet of roses, a framed greeting, and tied a woven 100th anniversary ribbon. A monetary gift from the Municipality was also handed over to Janina Paliuliene.

“Most importantly, I wish you the best possible health! May your closest people be healthy, please you with their attention, closeness and warmth of heart. Happy new year to you!” said A. Visockas.

The eldest son Kostas, daughters Janina, Rima and Regina celebrated the special anniversary birthday together. The centenarian has 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. All children live in Šiauliai, grandchildren and great-grandchildren are widely scattered.

The children said that Mrs. Janina moved to Šiauliai 33 years ago. Until that time, he lived in the Šiauliai district, in the village of Girlaukis. For many years, she worked hard on the farm, and when her husband died early, she had to raise her children alone.

In her youth, Janina Paliuliene had to see the horrors of war and the brutal post-war period, so she wished the people of Šiauliai the most important thing – peace. Life is definitely better than ever before, but it is important that it is not destroyed by war, bombs do not fall, so that people get along.

The daughters said that mother Janina had a serious illness a few years ago, but managed to recover successfully. She easily overcame the COVID-19 virus twice.

In the summer, everyone goes together to indulgences in Upyna, visit the graves of their relatives, and already this weekend, children and grandchildren, other relatives will gather at the cafe for the centenarian’s birthday.
