The amendments to the Law on Tax Administration, the Code of Civil Procedure, the Code of Execution of Sentences, the Code of Criminal Procedure and the Code of Administrative Misdemeanors will have to be considered by the Seimas.

Vice Minister of Finance Rūta Bilkštytė noted that the projects were prepared to solve the shortcomings of the existing system of administration of non-tax obligations in the state.

“Currently, the Tax Inspectorate partially administers only fines for administrative offenses, other non-tax obligations are administered by different institutions,” said R. Bilkštytė.

“Collection of all non-tax measures, both from accounts and assets, is carried out by bailiffs,” she added.

The project also aims to clearly determine the periods of postponement and arrangement of the tax arrears payment term, to waive the excessive demand for the postponement and arrangement of the tax arrears payment term, to determine the procedure for taking over the tax arrears to the Minister of Finance.

After the implementation of this investment project provided for in the Lithuanian National Economic Revitalization and Resilience Enhancement Plan, VMI would become the sole administrator of obligations to the state, avoiding duplication of functions and organizing activities on a one-stop basis.
