For ten years, nine posters of people deserving the club hung in the “Jeep” arena, formerly known as “Lietuvos ryto” and “Ryto”.

Those people were Arvydas Macijauskas, Ramūnas Šiškauskas, Robertas Javtokas, Šarūnas Jasikevičius, Andrius Šležas, Robertas Štelmaheris, Chuck Eidson, Jonas Valančiūnas and the only coach Rimas Kurtinaitis.

But still in 2019 in autumn, the image of Š. Jasikevičius, who at that time successfully coached “Žalgiris” Kaunas, disappeared from the arena decks, and a few years later, the remaining eight personalities from the past of “Ryto” were also gone.

The capital club decided to honor its legends in a different way – as most other basketball and other sports teams do.

Starting from this season, “Rytas” started holding special ceremonies during which they put the jerseys of those players who left the brightest mark in the team’s history on the arena decks.

Back in November, during a match against his other former team “Neptun” from Klaipėda, “Rytas” honored Arvydas Macijauskas in this way – his number 7 shirt was the first to appear on the decks of the “Jeep” arena.

And last week Mac was joined by Chuck Eidson – the most prominent legionnaire in “Ryta” history was honored by raising his number 13 shirt.

Why did “Rytas” decide to pay tribute to the legends in this way, and which personalities of the Vilnius club can expect such an honor in the coming years? 15 minutes answers the following questions.
