On Monday around 5 p.m. 5 minutes A fire broke out in a cultural heritage building in Padvariai.

During the fire, the entrance door, the ceiling, and the walls of the building were burnt. Garbage piled inside burned. Arson is suspected. The loss is determined.

Collected material according to article 187 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Lithuania. Part 2: “Destruction or damage to property”. This is punishable by a fine or restriction of liberty, or arrest, or imprisonment for up to five years.

Albertas Barauskas, adviser to the mayor of the Kretinga district municipality, clarified to BNS that the remains of the “emergency” manor homestead barn were burning.

“Currently, we have no information about the identified suspects. In turn, we will inform the Department of Cultural Heritage. (…) Since the building was already in ruins, we don’t think much damage will be done,” said A. Barauskas.

According to him, the manor homestead consists of many buildings, some of which are arranged and maintained.

“We have the palace of the Kretinga manor and the surrounding buildings, some of them have been repaired. We have a few remaining old buildings that are in disrepair. The complex is being managed gradually, all the main large buildings are arranged and maintained”, said A. Barauskas.

According to the Department of Cultural Heritage, the barn of the Kretinga manor homestead was built in the 18th century and partially reconstructed several times in the 19th and 20th centuries. The building was already burned down in 1991.

This state-protected object of regional importance was included in the Register of Cultural Values ​​in 1997, and according to 2014 data, its condition is bad.
