It has already coincided that this year, on the second day of Easter, the maximum permissible driving speed on the main roads and highways of the country changes. From April 1 to October 31, drivers of passenger cars, motorcycles and tricycles can drive at a maximum speed of 120 km/h on highways. speed, and on highways – 130 km/h. speed

No less important is the fact that when April comes, the summer tire season also begins. The permissible level of tread wear for summer tires is up to 1.6 mm, but traffic safety experts advise to think about another set of tires much earlier and not to install heavily worn tires when changing winter tires to summer ones. Experts advise that in order to ensure safety, summer tires should be changed when the tread wears down to 4-3 mm. Tires with a smaller tread depth may not perform their job properly during summer rains.

Drivers who use studded tires during the winter should be concerned, because according to the current Road Traffic Rules, studded tires can be operated until April 10 (not included). Drivers who have not changed their tires to summer tires or non-studded tires by this date may be fined between 50 and 100 euros.

Others should be considered

Although it is already the seventh year that riders have been given the right to go out on the streets from March 1, the riders themselves say that considering the fact that the asphalt is still cold in March, most of the fans of “steel horses” hit the streets later. This date often coincides with the official summer tire season, so drivers – both cars and motorcycles – are advised to stay alert and pay special attention to the environment when maneuvering.

In winter, most car drivers get used to taking part in traffic without smaller vehicles around, so traffic safety experts urge you to remember that at any moment a motorcyclist, a cyclist or an electric scooter driver may be riding on the side of the road, so those sitting at the wheel should be much more careful.

It’s no secret that some car drivers also go out on the streets only when the summer tire season begins, so in order to ensure traffic safety, such drivers are advised not to rush and not overestimate their capabilities. The same advice applies to drivers who have recently obtained category A or B driving licenses.

Awaiting more checks

“Delfi” also reminds that it is in April – in the middle of April – that environmentalists will start to carry out car pollution checks, so every driver should remember how to act when he sees an officer stopping.

When the checking officer stops, the driver of the vehicle must stop the car on the right side of the road, on the side of the road. On roads where there are no more than 4 lanes for traffic in both directions, the driver must stop on the right side of the road, and when there is none, on the right side of the carriageway. On roads with a dividing lane, the driver must stop only in the same direction as moving vehicles. In all cases, the stopped driver must activate the emergency light alarm and wait for the checking officer in the car.
