“For everyday meals, I usually choose chicken thigh meat. Although it is slightly fattier, I like its taste more than, for example, a slightly drier brisket. We love to grill wings on the weekends or in the summer.

But for the holidays, I usually choose a whole chicken – it looks the most festive to me. When combined with the right side dishes, it becomes a real highlight of the festive table,” says the kitchen expert.

Taking care not only of the taste, but also of the health of her family, she chooses the products for the dishes she prepares very carefully.

“The most important thing for me is that there are no doubts about the quality of the poultry itself. Not only for myself – especially for my 4-year-old son. I always pay attention to the freshness of the produce, so I choose products grown and manufactured in Lithuania. Also, when I can, I choose antibiotic-free poultry,” says the blogger.

She assures that even people without exceptional culinary talents can prepare dishes at home with a truly festive appearance and exceptional taste, which can surprise even gourmets who have seen everything.

“First of all, the right marinade, which would give the chicken flavor notes suitable for a specific holiday. For example, a chicken for Easter can smell of garlic and herbs, and for Christmas – cinnamon. Appropriate side dishes made from seasonal products also create a festive mood.

Finally, the “wow” effect is created by serving – for example, when serving for Easter, choose to decorate the plate with peas, carrots, radishes, edible flowers. Such a small accent will take the appearance of the dish to the next level”, K. Pišniukaitė Šimkienė shares her tricks.

For those who want to surprise guests on Easter, she also offers a recipe for garlic-scented chicken with mashed sweet potatoes, pea salad with bacon and cheddar cheese.

“When I want the perfect taste without much effort, I use pre-marinated chicken, which just needs to be removed from the package and put in the oven. It is encouraging that today in many stores you can find marinated chickens suitable for various tastes, which can become the basis of both everyday and festive dishes,” says the culinary expert.

Among the food blogger’s favorites is chicken with wild garlic and olive oil marinade. It was he who the interviewer chose for the Easter dish recipe.

And while the chicken is baking, it remains to prepare the side dishes.

For mashed or boiled sweet potatoes you will need:

For the pea salad/thawed green peas you will need:

  • radish;
  • fried bacon;
  • cheddar;
  • mayonnaise;
  • garlic;
  • salt and pepper.
