The Vilnius city municipality assures that after the Easter holidays, schoolchildren will be able to safely return to educational institutions that have fallen into the area affected by the fire in Paneriai.

The Vilnius city municipality assures that after the Easter holidays, schoolchildren will be able to safely return to educational institutions that have fallen into the area affected by the fire in Paneriai.

“After the holidays, it will be safe to return to educational institutions (…) and after the Easter holidays, education will take place as usual,” said Gabrielius Grubinskas, the representative of the municipality, in a comment sent to Elta.

He reminded that schools and kindergartens located in the area affected by the fire were recommended to clean the surfaces immediately. Therefore, noted G. Grubinskas, institutions worked remotely not only on Thursday, but also on Friday.

“The risk of air pollution was no longer there already on Thursday, and the institutions had to clean the surfaces with a wet method without delay,” said the representative of the municipality.

ELTA reminds that last week, on Wednesday evening, a fire broke out at the landfill located on Panerių street. The fire was extinguished on Thursday morning.

Aleksandras Zubriakovs, Director of Corporate Affairs of Lietuvos Geležinkelių (LTG) Group, stated that the fire started on the territory of Lietuvos Geležinkelių. However, the company UAB “Ruvis” is currently located in the area where the fire broke out.

If it turns out that the fire broke out on the territory of LTG in Vilnius on Wednesday due to the tenant’s fault, the LTG group will consider the possibility of terminating the contract with the Ruvis company, the company announced on Thursday.

Due to increased pollution, the National Public Health Center (NVSC) recommended that educational institutions in the districts of Naujamiestis and Karoliniškii continue the education process remotely on Thursday and Friday.
