Kaunas residents will soon learn about skull fractures, spinal cord injuries and other life-threatening injuries suffered in accidents not only from medical reports, but also after visiting an unusual exhibition. On April 6, the Safe Traffic Day will invite you to visually see the consequences of irresponsible behavior while driving a scooter or other vehicle.

Gambling speed often brings painful consequences. This is also evidenced by computer tomography studies and medical diagnoses when the victims were admitted to the hospital. Usually, such data are included in medical records, but soon the people of Kaunas will have the opportunity to get to know their personalized fragments.

On the occasion of Safe Traffic Day, Kaunas City Municipality invites you to an annual event that has become a tradition. This year, his main idea and slogan is: “Don’t look for blame, because you’re driving!”

On April 6, in Independence Square, next to the so-called Cathedral, visitors will be entertained by meaningful activities and attractive activities. Perhaps the most prominent highlight of the program should be an unprecedented exhibition, which exhibits the results of medical research that speak of severe and dangerous injuries. They were experienced by scooter drivers who got into traffic accidents due to negligence.

“Alone the streets and updated other traffic infrastructure do not ensure safe traffic in the city. On the contrary, sometimes on a flat road, speeds even increase, and drivers’ caution and self-protection often begin to decrease. However, it remains a priority of our city, so that the situation on the streets of Kaunas improves every year and serious accidents become as rare as possible.

We must not forget ourselves and remind those around us of the importance of elementary caution. It is especially lacking for those riding electric scooters, the number of which is increasing every day. The upcoming exhibition will probably shock more than one visitor, but at the same time it will make you think. This is one of the goals”, said Deputy Mayor of Kaunas Andrius Palionis, inviting Kaunas to participate in the Safe Traffic Day event.

The action on Independence Square will start at 12:00 on Saturday. Both families with children and older participants will be welcomed by car simulators that allow them to safely feel the importance of seat belts in the event of a traffic accident.

The Lithuanian Rifle Association will invite you to its pavilion. The shooters will share their knowledge and experience, teaching how to give first aid properly.

Those who do not shy away from using smart devices at the wheel will be able to test themselves in a special driver’s reaction stand. This will help you see how careless behavior and lack of attention make driving difficult.

Kaunas Algis Žikevičius Safe Child School will prepare special routes for the smallest road users. There will be an entertaining figure cycling. Police canine experts are also preparing the show with their trained four-legged service partners.

For more than a year, safety on the streets of Kaunas has been ensured by a unique city solution – “diamonds” painted on the roadway, warning drivers of upcoming crossings. Innovative markings have greatly reduced the number of accidents.
