The Netherlands has announced that it will send Patriot long-range air defense systems to Lithuania for several weeks. The exact date of deployment has not been announced.

This directly contributes to our readiness and reassures our allies, said Kajsa Ollongren, Minister of Defense of the Netherlands, on the social network X para.

inutje does not mention when exactly the systems will be deployed in Lithuania.

Lithuania asked NATO members to rotate their anti-aircraft defense systems while implementing the regional rotational air defense model agreed last year.

Arvydas Anuauskas, the former Minister of Intelligence, announced at the beginning of March that the model will start working next year, as part of the Patriot deployment.

Lithuania has discussed the possibility of deploying air defense capabilities in the region with the USA, Germany, Sweden, the Netherlands, Italy and Greece.

The last time Patriots were deployed in Lithuania was last July, when a NATO meeting was held in Vilnius.
