Due to food spilled in the apartment, the Kaunas firefighters had to take the lift from the outside to the fourth floor – the elderly owner of the apartment did not open the door.

As reported by the Kaunas Fire Rescue Board, on Thursday morning, at 6:56 a.m., a report was received that the smell of smoke could be felt in the stairwell of the apartment building on Rasytė Street.

When the firefighters arrived, the smell of burnt food could be felt in the stairwell, but no one opened the apartment door.

After taking the elevator through the balcony on the 4th floor, you got inside the apartment, the door was opened, and the medics and police officers were admitted.

It turned out that the pot with food products that was on the stove in the kitchen was moved until the firemen arrived.

A conscious old woman was found inside the apartment.

The apartment premises are ventilated. There was no smoke detector in the apartment.

Another similar event was registered on the same day in Jurbarka, on Gedimino Street. 11:28 a.m. Firefighters received a report that an elderly neighbor had smoked pot.

By chance, the craftsman removed the pot, there was no burning.

The apartment is not equipped with a smoke detector.
