Last week, information was received about the arrival of Moldovan citizens (born in 1978; 1972) to Lithuania, who last year, in August and July, in Kaunas district. In the area under the supervision of the VPK, they allegedly broke into the premises of shops and companies at night and emptied the cash registers and safes.

On March 21, in the forenoon, in the parking lot of Ringaudus sen., Kaunas district, criminal investigators, having sufficient evidence of the committed thefts and information that the thefts may continue again, arrested the aforementioned foreign citizens. One of the suspects jumped out of his car and tried to run away without shoes, but his efforts were in vain – the officers promptly caught the fugitive nearby. The men had previously been caught by law enforcement for similar acts.

Kaunas district VPK conducts a pre-trial investigation in accordance with Article 178 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Lithuania. on the 3rd (for theft) and Art. 187 1 d. (due to destruction or damage to property). This is punishable by a fine or restriction of liberty, or arrest, or imprisonment for up to six years.

The investigation is organized and led by the prosecutors of the 2nd department of the Kaunas District Prosecutor’s Office of the Kaunas District Prosecutor’s Office.
