Reported arrest

According to the police, on Wednesday, January 31, at around 10 p.m., officers patrolling the village of Vilainiai stopped a car that caused them suspicion. During the inspection, possible narcotic-psychotropic substances were found in the VW Golf car.

The car was driven by a 19-year-old man, with passengers two years younger.

The men did not resist being detained. The officers put them in a police car and took them to a medical institution for examination for the possible use of narcotic-psychotropic substances.

Later, after filling out all the documents, the two younger men were released home, and the older man – the driver – was taken away and put in custody in Kaunas. The car he was driving was taken to the parking lot guarded by the police.

By the way, all three young men claimed not to use drugs, and they said they did not know where the powder came from in the car.

The officers still tried to explain, to call the former owner of the car, as it was recently sold, but he could not say anything either. Then the officers became even more suspicious that the boys were hiding something.

It wasn’t until the next day that the guys found out that they were transporting baby formula. At that time, many people laughed at such an explanation of the young people, but after the examination it turned out that they were not lying – the prosecutor’s office stopped the pre-trial investigation.

“In the trunk of the car, police officers found and took away a plastic box with powder covered with an orange plastic cover. After the investigation of the object, a specialist concluded that no narcotic, psychotropic substances or their predecessors (precursors) were found in the yellowish powder.

The suspicions have not been confirmed, therefore the pre-trial investigation is terminated, as no act has been committed that has the characteristics of a crime or misdemeanor”, reads the decision of the 5th department of the Kaunas district prosecutor’s office.

During the pre-trial investigation, it turned out that the powder that made the officers suspicious was left by a young woman, whom the boyfriend kindly helped to move things from the dormitory on Šeta Street to the Family Support Center. While moving, when all the items were being moved, the suspicious powder fell out and remained in the trunk.

The impounded car was returned to the owner. The pre-trial investigation has been terminated.
