As a portal Lrytas.lt the Ministry of National Defense informed, on March 29 at 12:00 p.m. A solemn ceremony commemorating NATO’s 20th anniversary will be held at Daukantas Square in Vilnius. During the event, two Mirage fighter jets of the French Air Force and four helicopters of the United States Air Force: two Black Hawk and two Chinook, which are currently carrying out the NATO air police mission in the Baltic States, will greet Lithuania with their flights.

“On Thursday, residents can see four United States Air Force helicopters rehearsing for the celebration: two Black Hawk and two Chinook,” the Ministry of National Defense’s Department of Strategic Communications and Public Relations said.

The Sikorsky UH-60 Black Hawk is a general purpose helicopter manufactured by the US company Sikorsky Aircraft and named in honor of Black Hawk, the leader of the Sakai Indian tribe. These helicopters have been in use by the US military since 1979.

The Boeing CH-47 Chinook is a tandem-rotor helicopter originally developed by the US company Vertol and now manufactured by Boeing Defense, Space & Security. The Chinook is a heavy duty helicopter, one of the heaviest helicopters in the Western world. It is named after the Chinook tribe of American Indians. Used in the US military since 1962.
